Whether you're a freelance or you work for a company/organization, branding yourself is an important part of being a working professional. Branding yourself is a way to let others know who you are, what experience you have, and how you contribute to world around you. Social media is does this automatically; it's a digital representation of you. Since social media has so much impact of how others perceive you, it's important it platform is saying that right thing!
Brand Yourself is online source to assist with measuring where your online presence is currently, then helps with providing tips to boost it! I decided to give a go. First, I was asked to enter three (3) of my social media platforms.
After inputting three of my social media platforms, Brand Yourself suggests you 'boost' your sites, by clicking on the green 'boost' button next to each link (pictured above). I completed the activities to boost one of my social media platforms.
You may complete as many activities as you'd like to help boost the online presence of your social media platforms and/or websites. The next step is to wait! I plan on checking in with the Brand Yourself stats every week to see how the activities are impacting the presence of my sites.
The important thing to remember when branding yourself is to stay professional. It can be easy to get into a feud with someone or live tweet a unusual life event. But always remember employers and potential clients are scoping out your public profiles to see if they'd like to work with you. What a shame it would be to miss out on a potential client because of something you said on Twitter or posted on Facebook... Stay classy!
